Competition Information

JUDGED COMPETITION INFORMATION

 All dolls must be preregistered to enter Competition, Challenge and Exhibit. 

Registration Fee for Competition is:  $10.00 per doll or $20.00/per three dolls.
Please include the following information PER ENTRY :

  • Failure to include ALL OF THE ABOVE INFORMATION, may cause your doll to be disqualified,            fees will not be refunded.  

1.  All dolls must be preregistered for Competitions and Challenges. 

     Deadline to have dolls registered is August 01, 2019.  

     Judged Entry fee is $10.00 per doll/or $20.00 for three dolls.

     There is no charge for entering the Challenge Categories.

2.  Each entry will be judge individually on it's own merit. The purpose of this competition is an educational 

      experience  to critique dolls for the growth of the entrant in their dollmaking. 

3.  Best of category winners must have 92 points or more to receive Best of Show Award.

4.  ANY MEMBER whose dues are current may enter Competition, but may not win top awards 

      unless registered for Festival.

5.  A 3x5 card must accompany all entries. The card should have the name of the doll (Bru, AT, etc).  With information    as to where the research was done, Mold Number, Company and a picture if possible.  No loose papers, put them

      in a clear plastic sheet protector.

6. Doll should be incised in greenware stage with your name/initials & date in a conspicuous place on back of head. Cover incising with masking tape before entering. Leave wig unglued in back so we can verify companies' mold & incising. You must state on your entry which category or Challenge you are entering in.

Competition Rules and Entry Form will be included in your Registration Confirmation packet.

(A) Antique Reproduction - French Categories 1. Mini (8 inches or under) 2. Baby 3. Toddler 4. Child 5. Lady/Men 6. Mechanical   

(B) Antique Reproduction - German Categories 1. Mini (8 inches or under) 2. Baby 3. Toddler 4. Child 5. Lady/Men 6. Mechanical   

(C) Modern Reproduction Categories 1. Mini (8 inches or under) 2. Baby 3. Toddler 4. Child 5. Lady/Men 6. Mechanical   (D) Creative Flair Categories Any doll may be used to achieve an original presentation.   

(E) Theme Dolls Categories 1. Dolls depicting the Theme of the Festival   

(F) Original Dolls (Dolls must be sculpted by the artist) Categories 1. Artist Original Model (Artist sculpted head, arm and legs) 2. Artist Sculpted head only and used with other arms and legs.   

(G) Dolls without Bodies Categories 1. Half Dolls 2. Doll in Box (sometimes referred to as Jack-In-The-Box) 3. Pins with Doll Faces 4. Miscellaneous   

(H) Small Dolls (8" or under)  

 (I) Painted eye dolls   

Special Awards: Advise person at registrar desk the category you are entering.

Challenge Competition/popular vote

~ JEANNE PETITE, Half Doll Challenge

 ~ The sky is the limit as these dolls were made into powder puffs, dresser boxes, pincushions, lamps,

  bed dolls, and much more! ~ all totally useless, but fabulously fancy!! ~

· All entries must contain a porcelain Jeanne Petite Half Doll. The mold was the souvenir gift in 2018. The bisque for  this beauty, with attached arms and intricate modeling, can be purchased for $25.00 + shipping by contacting Stacey  Reed (staceyreed777@gmail.com)


Rules for Jeanne Petite Half Doll Challenge

  • All dolls must be costumed by the Entrant.
  • Painting will not be judged, however it is encouraged to have the entrant paint their doll(s).
  • Feel free to add props and/or complete in a decorative setting.
  • There are no height or size restrictions.
  • There is no limit to the number of entries in this category.
  • Dolls must be preregistered for nameplate & ease of handling when entered
  • There is no fee to enter
  • Dolls may be photographed for publication. By entering, you automatically agree to this condition. 

   

 Prizes will be given for the following category:

              Overall Favorite Doll

Theme Challenges

 Once again, we will be sponsoring the UDS Theme Challenge. This is A GREAT OPPORTUNITY for members to present entries representing the theme of our Festival, and their creativity in the interpretation of it.

We have two categories this year:  

1- Jeanne Petite; 2018 Souvenir Half Doll mold.

2- Exquisite French Dolls, the dolls of France.


The winners will be determined in a Popular Vote by the Universal Doll Society membership. 

Let the Little Lambs Play theme challenge

Rules for the Fabulous French Doll Exhibit & Popular Vote.

Doll must be made by entrant.

Doll may be any gender, ethnicity, costume, or size. 

Costume need not be made by the Entrant

All dolls must be preregistered for nameplate & ease of handling when received at Festival. 

There is no fee to enter. 

Dolls may be photographed for publication. By entering, you automatically agree to this condition.

Prizes will be given in the following categories:

  • Authentic In Presentation - Lady
  • Authentic In Presentation - Child
  • Favorite Overall
