Universal Doll Society's purpose is to promote Porcelain Doll Making. One way we accomplish this is by having a Festival each year. We gather as Doll Makers for three fun-filled days to enjoy two yummy luncheons followed by a special UDS sponsored workshop, and our Awards Banquet on Thursday night. Together we share our expertise, enjoy workshops carefully prepared & presented by members, lots of goodies, surprises, and laughs along the way! Helper Raffles and Silent Auctions help defray expenses and are so much fun!
Universal Doll Society Festival includes 2 free lunches with free workshops afterward! The workshops are a huge hit with our members - it's so fun to make the exciting projects, and enjoy our time together. Here you see the fabulous Miniature Trunk we made in 2019 for our project. Each person was given a plain wooden, humpback, mini trunk. We created a tray, lined the tray and inside of the box with a darling small print paper & lace, adding decorations from Jean Nordquist's fabulous reproduction Paper Graphics as we went along. The boxes and supplies were provided by UDS, Darlene Grant, and Sherri Barstow.
We look forward to this years' TOP SECRET project!!
We welcome input on the Festival Workshops and would like to hear your suggestions. What would you like to accomplish for our 24th annual UDS Festival in 2021? Please send info to:
All Workshops are relaxing, informative, fun, and you walk away with completed projects! "Prepaid Workshops" are not included in your registration fee. The listing for these workshops can be found under the Workshops link. Be sure to register early & pay each teacher. Some may have a limited number of kits available, classes are limited to 10.
The prices for these classes are very reasonable, as we believe in sharing with each other and encouraging participation as much as possible within our group!
Each workshop has a list of what the student needs to furnish, please be sure to prepare these items before Festival, so as to not slow down the progress of others.
Applications for 2021 Festival Workshops are requested to be presented at the 2020 Festival

Our Silent Auction & Raffles are so much fun, with a diverse assortment of wonderful things to bid on and even better, take home with you! This is a great opportunity to show off your handiwork! Or perhaps you bought two of a fabulous item? Donate them to UDS and help out our club financially. We appreciate all items and know you want to receive fabulous prizes, so make sure they are in like new condition.
As facilities, food, & the cost of our workshops rise yearly, they exceed what is paid with the registration fee. It is very important that each member provide at least 2-3 items for the Raffle and 2 items for the Auction - or even more - to help defray costs. Besides, it is fun to see what everyone brings and gets to take home with them!

Doll Makers: noun; artists, & collectors that share a love of dolls, mostly those that are handmade by themselves and others. Unable to pass a porcelain doll without pausing to study, admire, touch clothing & hair.
This is us - you and I, many with years of specialized training and skills. Most of our members are certified doll makers through the Doll Artisan Guild. Several have gone on to become Millie, Maggie, even Triple Crown winners through the Guild. No matter our expertise or background everyone is eager to share and learn from others. This is the true spirit of porcelain doll making! This is UDS!!
All are welcome to join us & share their doll passion as each of us have our own talents and heartfelt love for this amazing hobby. As we come together for 4 wonderful days each year, to create, share, & complete doll projects, enjoy food, have fun, make lots of memories and form new friendships!
Our fabulous trip to Snowbird Ski Resort found one bus full of women stranded on the roadside after the engine overheated climbing the steep mountainside roads. Never fear, Sherri is here! She had us laughing so much, it was hard to focus on the problem at hand.
Great opportunity to admire the steep, granite mountainside, rugged terrain, white pines galore, and it also gave passing motorists a great reason to stare at a group of women standing along the road, when Sherri hiked her pantleg with thumb in the air! Beautiful sunshine provided the perfect backdrop for our visit high in the Wasatch Mountain Range. Most rode the tram 7 miles up to Hidden Peak with a panoramic view at 11,000 feet above sea level. It was breathtaking, but overwhelming for our friends who live at sea level. We enjoyed lunch, relaxing in the gardens- some even catnapped a bit! Then headed back to the hotel to register and begin the Festival.
